Cursor
Cursor reads MCP servers from mcp.json. Put CADshift in the global one, so every project has it.
The quick way is one command (--register cursor).
Add it
- Open
%USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.jsonin Cursor (create the file if it isn’t there). - Add CADshift under
mcpServers:
{
"mcpServers": {
"cadshift-autocad": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "C:\\Users\\YOUR-NAME\\AppData\\Local\\Programs\\CADshift\\AutoCAD MCP\\server\\cadshift-mcp-autocad.exe",
"args": []
}
}
}
- Save, and restart Cursor.
Only want it in one project? Use .cursor\mcp.json in that project instead, with the same entry.
Check it
- Open Customize in the sidebar. cadshift-autocad is listed with its tools; use the toggle to turn it on if it is off.
- Open AutoCAD with a drawing, and ask the agent: “Use CADshift to list the layers in the open drawing.”
If it doesn’t connect: View → Output (Ctrl+Shift+U), pick MCP Logs from the drop-down.
