Changelog
Release notes for CADshift for Autodesk Inventor. When a new version is available, CADshift shows an update notice inside Inventor — click Download to get the installer.
1.1.0.0
DXF export — a whole flat-pattern pipeline, and the fixes that came with it.
New: batch DXF export. Turn a part, an assembly or a drawing into cut-ready DXF in one pass. Pick components, bodies, faces, drawing views or parts-list rows straight in Inventor, preview every file before it is written, and get an HTML report afterwards with a preview rendered from the DXF that was actually produced.
- Output Profiles decide how the DXF looks — which layer every kind of geometry lands on,
and its colour, linetype and visibility. Profiles live in
%AppData%\CadShift\DxfProfilesand are shared with CADshift for SOLIDWORKS, so one shop standard drives both products. - Every kind of cut on its own layer — holes, slots, cut-outs, bend-up, bend-down and the outer contour, split out of Inventor’s single interior-profiles layer. (Basic)
- Token file names and folders — model title, part number, material, thickness, quantity, model state or any iProperty, with a live example as you type. (Basic; the sub-folder schema is Professional.)
- Spline conversion to line segments, to a maximum deviation you choose. (Basic)
- Part notes written beside the geometry on their own layer. (Basic)
- Bend annotations — angle, direction, radius, K-factor, bend allowance or deduction, written on each bend line from a template you build. (Professional)
- Etch text — each part marked with its own part number, thickness or any token, scaled to the largest clear space and skipped when it would come out too small to read. (Professional)
- Bend-line trimming to short stubs, so the fold is marked without scoring the face. (Professional)
- Contour clean-up for laser — countersink rings and other in-between loops deleted or moved to a reference layer, with endpoint welding for geometry that leaves CAD slightly open. (Professional)
- Material bounding box, axis-aligned or minimum-area. (Professional)
- Opposite-hand copies — the left/right twin written from one model, outline mirrored and bend directions kept. (Professional)
- Placement and orientation — lay every flat pattern down the same way: longest bend along X, longest edge along X, or aligned to the grain. (Professional)
- Flat plates that aren’t sheet metal — gaskets, spacers and packers exported from a flat face, with no flat pattern involved. (Professional)
Grain direction (Free) — mark the rolling direction on one edge and it is stored in the part, survives a reopen and travels with the file. It becomes a grain arrow in the DXF from the Basic tier; turning the flat pattern to suit it is the Professional placement rule.
Also in this release
- The Command Palette opens on S. Installs that still had the old
Ctrl+Spacedefault are migrated once; a key you chose yourself is never touched. - Manage License no longer stops working for the rest of the session after a single failed start-up check.
- Steps your licence skips are now named — on the row in the preview and in the HTML report — instead of quietly not happening.
- The profile editor now reads this product’s licence table, so a section it draws unlocked is a section that survives the export.
- Exporting no longer modifies the part you have open.
- Every binary in the App Store package is code-signed.
- The supported floor is Inventor 2025. (2024 hosts .NET Framework 4.8 and cannot load a .NET 8 add-in; earlier documentation said 2021, which was wrong.)
1.0.5.0
Updates are now yours to install, and a licensing identity fix.
- Updates are user-driven — The background service no longer downloads and runs installers silently. When a new version ships, CADshift shows an update notice inside Inventor with a Download link that opens the installer in your browser; you run it when it suits you. (Antivirus software increasingly — and reasonably — dislikes unattended installers running under system accounts.) Leftover auto-downloaded installers are cleaned up on the first start after updating.
- Your trial is your trial — The add-in identified a computer by a hardware fingerprint that two unrelated machines could share (same processor model, placeholder motherboard serials). The identity is now based on the Windows installation itself, which is unique per machine. Existing installations migrate automatically; nothing to re-enter or re-activate.
1.0.4.0
Maintenance build. No user-facing changes — confirms the automatic-update path end to end.
1.0.3.0
Automatic updates are now active.
- The background updater is now connected to the live update service, so CADshift keeps itself up to date automatically. (Builds before this one shipped with the updater idle — a one-time manual update to this version switches it on; updates are automatic from here.)
1.0.2.0
Licensing reliability fixes.
- Monthly licences now activate reliably. The installer can verify the licence signature offline (it no longer fails to provision a licence during setup), and the add-in now caches the monthly licence so it shows in the licence dialog alongside the annual one.
1.0.1.0
Public launch release.
- Branded installer with the CADshift look, an end-user licence agreement, and one-click setup.
- Automatic background updates, verified by SHA-256 checksum before they are applied.
- Full online help documentation for every feature.
- No feature changes since 1.0.0.0 — the Command Palette, Document Switcher, and Document Groups are unchanged (see below).
1.0.0.0
Initial release.
- Command Palette (Free) — press S for a context-sensitive, filterable list of Inventor commands at your cursor, with pinned favourites.
- Document Switcher (Basic) — press Ctrl+Tab for a visual, thumbnail-based switcher across your open documents.
- Document Groups (Professional) — save the documents you work on together and switch between project contexts from tabs in the switcher.
- Configurable hotkeys and appearance from the in-app CadShift Settings panel (Tools tab → CadShift).
- Automatic background updates, verified by checksum before they’re applied.
- Free trial of every tier; the Command Palette stays free afterwards.
